New Treasury Secretary announced the retention of anti-Russian sanctions

The recently appointed U.S. Department of the Treasury Steven Mnuchin said that acting against Russia sanctions program of the United States remain in force. He said this at a briefing in the White house, reports Interfax.

Cancel anti-Russian sanctions: benefit or risk?

Mnuchin stressed that sanctions are a “very important part” of the U.S. Treasury. According to him, Washington will continue to consider such policies in respect of different countries.

The ally of US President Donald trump on the Republican party, Senator Lindsey Graham said he will lead the efforts of Congress in the introduction of new sanctions against Russia over the alleged Moscow’s intervention in presidential elections in the United States in 2016. He also said that between trump and the Congress, there is growing controversy on the Russian question.

Earlier, a group of senators introduced the bill providing possibility of cancellation of sanctions against Russia only with the permission of Congress.
