On the eve of a White house spokesman Shop Spicer stated that trump expects Russia to assist in the reduction of violence in Ukraine and return Crimea. “President trump has made it clear that he expects the Russian government to de-escalate the violence in Ukraine and the return of the Crimea”, — he stressed. Thus, according to the spokesman, trump “expects to get along with Russia.”

In July last year, as a candidate for President, trump said that the people of Crimea “would prefer to be with Russia, but not where he was before.” At the same time he confirmed the intention to consider the issue of recognition of the Crimea part of Russia in case of victory in the elections.

The Russian foreign Ministry commented on the statements by the White house. According to the official representative of the Ministry Maria Zakharova, Russia does not return its territories. Speaker of the state Duma Vyacheslav Volodin, in turn, called the discussions about the sale of Crimea is a violation of the territorial integrity of Russia.
