For blocking coal supplies from Donbass may suffer residents of peaceful Ukrainian cities such as Sumy, Kramatorsk, Kiev, and many others. This was stated by President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, reports Еспресо.TV.
In addition, if the blockade did not stop, the steel industry may lose up to 300 thousand jobs, and the state will lose $2 billion in revenue, which will negatively affect the national currency, said Poroshenko.
“300 thousand people will be on the street. The state will lose up to $2 billion of foreign exchange earnings with all the consequences for the hryvnia. In the occupied territories, tens of thousands of people remain without work. Labour market there is no significant portion in order to survive, will go where? To the militants,” — said the Ukrainian leader.
He noted that he understands the emotions of many Ukrainians, who supported the action on the blockade of Donbass, since “this emotion is quite natural for a society tired by years of war”, but stressed that “will never forgive the cynicism and irresponsibility” of those politicians who “this emotion was used for your selfish partisan PR”.
“It is not trade with the occupiers. This cooperation with companies who are in occupied territory”, — said the President of Ukraine.
Poroshenko also said that on Thursday at a meeting of the Council for national security and defense will raise the issue on urgent measures to eliminate threats to energy security of Ukraine, transfers “112 Ukraine”.
“We will take additional decisions on the diversification of sources of energy coal, not forgetting that the coal that is mined in the occupied territories, he is also our Ukrainian and should take their share in the energy balance of the country”, — said the Ukrainian leader, assuring that the optimal way of unlocking will be found, and the rights of citizens are protected.
In connection with the blocking of cargo transportation of coal from 17 February, Ukraine introduced a state of emergency in the energy sector. In accordance with the decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine state energy company “Ukrenergo”, based on the available fuel reserves for the production of electricity by thermal power plants, in case of need can apply to a schedule of hourly power outage and schedules its outages. The state enterprise “Energorynok” has been tasked to develop a schedule of load power system of Ukraine taking into account requirements of the state enterprise “Ukrenergo” on the composition of the equipment of thermal power plants of energy generating companies.
The state enterprise “national nuclear energy generating company “Energoatom” must comply with the load curve of the power system of the country, to carry out maintenance of equipment of nuclear power plants due to partial discharges of single units of nuclear power plants.
Emergency mode will operate a month, but three days before it ended, the Ministry of energy of Ukraine must report on the status of its implementation.
