Russia along with other countries developing advanced weapons based on new physical principles. This was stated by the President of Russia Vladimir Putin at a meeting with the leadership of the defense Ministry and defense industry enterprises (a series of meetings was held this week in Sochi).

“Today, in the XXI century, to strengthen the military potential of the world’s leading countries actively used to develop weapons of the most modern technologies, the latest achievements of science is lasers, hypersonic, robotics”, — Putin said (quoted by “Interfax”).

However, as said the President, serious attention is paid to development of “the so-called weapons based on new physical principles, which allows selective acupressure on critical elements of weapons, equipment, and infrastructure of a potential enemy”. A similar development is underway in Russia, Putin said.

The head of state stressed that, designing and creating advanced weapons, Russia is fulfilling its international obligations in contrast to some other countries. “Unfortunately, we also know some countries actually negate earlier agreements, for example in the area of missile defense,” Putin said (quoted by “Interfax”). The President noted that this is done in order to obtain unilateral advantages.

“In this regard, I reiterate that we will continue to do everything necessary to ensure the strategic balance of forces. Attempts to change it, break believe that it is extremely dangerous,” Putin said.
