Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree awarding the Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Kirill with the order “For merits before Fatherland” I degree, the press service of the Kremlin.

According to the document, the head of the Russian Orthodox Church is awarded for outstanding achievements in the preservation and development of spiritual and cultural traditions, as well as educational and peace-building efforts aimed at strengthening friendship between peoples.

Sunday, November 20, Patriarch Kirill (in the world Gundyaev Vladimir) will be celebrating the anniversary, he will be 70 years old.
