The head meteorologist called on the Russians to focus on forecasts of dangerous phenomena only Rosgidromettsentrom and its subordinate structures. He noted that other organizations provide unreliable monitoring of weather changes

The head of the hydrometeorological center of Russia Roman Vilfand has urged Russians to focus on weather forecasts of dangerous phenomena of Roshydromet and its subordinate structures. He declared it to “Interfax”.

According to him, the prediction of dangerous phenomena can come only from Roshydromet.

“It’s the law. Only Roshydromet performs the task of hydrometeorological safety of the country, and in incredibly difficult conditions for financing,” he said, stressing that this structure is responsible for the forecast and methods by which they are produced.

Vilfand reminded that previously have not been associated with Roshydromet agencies have issued warnings about the ice rain in Moscow and Moscow region at the weekend on 19 and 20 November, which subsequently did not materialize. The meteorologist said that authorities responded to wrong weather forecasts. What measures have been taken and against whom, the Agency did not specify.

“I am very impressed that given a message about some kind of “ice rain” and “ice trap”. There are many unknown to me agencies that produce forecasts, and what they are trying to make forecasts of dangerous phenomena is a dangerous trend and a violation of the law,” — said the Agency interlocutor. He explained that this negatively affects people and business entities that may incur certain economic losses because of incorrect information provided about the weather.
