Assistant to the UN special envoy on Syria, Jan Egeland said that in Western Aleppo, the mission office was shelled by the armed opposition, reports RIA Novosti.

According to him, after firing international staff of the organization were evacuated, their return requires an assessment of the security situation in the area.
“The office was attacked by armed opposition groups. We evacuated the staff. We had to move the staff, and we expect to return to Western Aleppo,” said Egeland.
He noted that in this part of Aleppo is now not enough international staff.
The UN expects to return international staff to the office in Aleppo, however, that “it is necessary first to assess the security situation”.
