The United States saw the transfer of s-400 near Kaliningrad threat to the security of Europe

The representative of the US state Department said that the placement in the Kaliningrad region of the Russian missile systems s-400 and Iskander is a factor that destabilizie European security

The deployment of Russian missile complexes “Iskander” and s-400 in the Kaliningrad region destabilizie security in Europe, said at a briefing head of the press service of the state Department of the USA John Kirby, reports Reuters.

According to him, “Russia threatened to deploy Iskander missiles in Kaliningrad in the last decade in response to various developments in Europe.” According to Kirby, any such development does not require “such a military response”.

“We call on Russia to refrain from words and deeds that do not meet the goals of promoting security and stability,” — said the diplomat.

As reported TASS, Kirby asked a question about accommodation in the Kaliningrad region division of coastal missile complex “Bastion”, but he didn’t mention it in the answer to the question.

In October 2016, the defense Ministry confirmed that the Russian military deployed in the Kaliningrad region rocket complexes “Iskander”, the Ministry said that these systems have repeatedly moved into the region, and the Russian military will continue to do so.

Later NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that the transfer of the missile systems in the Kaliningrad region is a part of the behavior of Russia, “which has been quite a long time”. According to him, NATO needs it to react, however, the Alliance opposes the cold war and a new arms race.

On 15 October the head of the Duma Committee on defense Vladimir Shamanov explained the reason for the transfer of “Iskander”. “These missiles would be aimed primarily against those objects which upset the balance, equilibrium and which are supplied or will be in the foreseeable future under the so-called missile defense,” — said the Shaman.
