In Lipetsk opened a monument to the dead in Syria, pilot Oleg Peshkov

The monument to the Russian pilot Oleg Peshkov, who died in Syria, opened in Lipetsk today, November 24, reports TASS with reference to the defense Ministry of the Russian Federation.

The ceremony was attended by representatives of the main command HQs, Lipetsk aviation center, the administration of the region and Lipetsk, veterans of the air force and others. After the opening of the monument, laying flowers and memorial service the personnel of the aviation center held a ceremonial March at the monument, reported in the Ministry of defence.

The author of the monument became the wife of Oleg Peshkov. The height of the monument is about two meters, it is made from a black Karelian granite in the form of two wings of the su-24, which holds the outline of the star in stainless steel. On one wing is carved the text of the decree of Vladimir Putin on awarding Oleg Peshkov Star of Hero of Russia posthumously. On the other wing are carved memorial inscription, portrait of Oleg Peshkov and the dates of his life.

Oleg Peshkov died 24 November 2015 in Syria. His plane su-24 shot down a Turkish fighter. By the decree of the President of Russia Peshkov posthumously awarded the title Hero of Russia.
