Members of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) were 14 representatives of the authorities, reports TASS with reference to the chief scientific Secretary of the Presidium of the Academy Michael Paltseva.
According to him, ran for 25 officials, but it’s only been 14. Including Senator Arnold Tulokhonov, who received the title of academician in the Department of Earth Sciences and head of the main military medical Directorate of the Russian defense Ministry Alexander Fisun, who became a corresponding member in the Department of medical Sciences.
RAS President Vladimir Fortov told the Agency that he had no reason to doubt the scientific level of all who was elected a member of the Russian Academy of Sciences. According to him, each applicant goes through a “very complex and difficult” process of election.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin at a meeting of the Council for science and education raised the issue of officials who have become academics. He noted that they are elected there despite his requests not to do so, so it “should provide them the opportunity to do science.”
