The Moscow city court on Thursday upheld the extension of arrest of the former Deputy chief of Department “T” of the Main Directorate of economic security and counteraction of corruption (Guebipk) Ministry of internal Affairs Dmitry Zakharchenko, who is accused of receiving a large bribe, the correspondent of RBC.

In the court hearing Zakharchenko participated via video conferencing. Standing in the iron cage of the detention facility, the defendant stated that the sister of the CEO of the Note-Bank Larisa Marchukova pressure and it is required to give evidence to the police in exchange for freedom.

Zakharchenko explained that Larisa Marchukova, sister of the General Director of Nota-Bank Galina Marchukova, wrote a statement to the police in which he alleged that law enforcement officers are asked to testify against Zakharchenko in exchange for freedom. He insisted that a copy of the complaint to him in jail gave him lawyers. The accused and his lawyers asked the appellate court to change the decision of Presnensky court, which in early November, has extended his arrest for four months, until March 8, 2017, and send a police officer under house arrest. Zakharchenko had been arrested on 10 September. Officially he was charged with receiving a bribe, abuse of power and obstruction of preliminary investigation (article 290, 285 and 294 of the Criminal code).

According to the materials of the case, one of the episodes, which were attributed to Zakharchenko, as receive 7 million rubles in December 2015 for “total protection” from the former head and co-owner of the company “Rusinzhiniring” Anatoly Prigornitskaya. This company in recent years has been one of the major contractors of the company for FGC UES and performed a number of contracts for laying of power supply networks.

The other part of the charges connected with the investigation of embezzlement of funds of Nota-Bank. According to investigators, in January 2016 Zakharchenko warned the sister of one of the leaders of Nota-Bank of the impending search and the call for questioning Galina Marchukova. In the fall of 2015 in the budget of the Bank was discovered a huge financial hole, as a result, the Central Bank revoked the license. Now the theft of money, criminal case, and the Note-the Bank is in the process of bankruptcy.
