For anybody not a secret that, often, losing weight on a diet, many of us are once again gaining extra pounds. This is due to many factors: diet, physical activity, and metabolism.
Full people, with difficulty gets rid of the extra pounds, not less difficult to hold the weight. Israeli researchers from the Research Institute Weizmann (Weizmann Institute of Science) found that the probability of a return of excess weight is largely dependent on the composition of the intestinal microbiome. They argue that, having studied the qualitative and quantitative composition of the microbiome, can accurately predict how many of the dropped during the diet will be dialed again. In addition, exactly how many and what kind of organisms live in the digestive system, largely determines the level of metabolism.
The researchers conducted experiments on mice. First, the animals alternately fed fatty foods, food with normal fat content, alternating the flow through a certain period of time. The animals then gained, then dropped weight. The authors created three animal models that reflect the nature of weight gain after a diet. They managed to find out what exactly the microbiome, played an important role in this process.
This was confirmed in experiments on the transplantation of feces: feces of mice, gaining weight after a diet, transplanted animals whose weight was normal and the nature of power has not changed – this led to the fact that the mice began to gain weight.
The authors have created a special algorithm that is able to make such predictions with high accuracy. They believe that in the future it will be possible to use for people – first and foremost, however, they will need to conduct appropriate experiments. Scientists explain that the role of the intestinal microbiome in weight gain have not been studied previously.
