On the Yamal Peninsula due to engine failure has made emergency landing the helicopter Mi-8, reported “Interfax” a source in the emergency services.
“After departure from the site of a Polar commander reported the failure of the left engine. In an emergency situation, the crew decided on an emergency landing on the nearest platform,” he said.
A spokesman said that the helicopter flew at a temperature of 30 degrees below zero. At landing nobody has suffered. The passengers and crew “were quickly evacuated to avoid frostbite”.
At the end of October on Yamal helicopter Mi-8. He fell near the settlement of Stary Urengoi. On Board were 22 people, 19 of them died. Among the passengers were shift workers of Rosneft, who worked at Suzunskoye field.
A source close to the investigation told Interfax that the route of the helicopter was registered in bad weather. The interstate aviation Committee has established that the helicopter was flying with minimum fuel in the tanks. The helicopter couldn’t refuel because of the weather conditions. However, the airline Sokol, who owned the helicopter, said that the cause of the fall of the aircraft was caused by bad weather conditions. The representative of the company claimed that the helicopter had enough fuel to fly to the destination.
