Russian national research Institute technology and communications assessed, what new services will be in demand in mobile networks fifth generation (5G), the mass launch of which is scheduled for 2020
In the next six years, the number of mobile subscribers connected worldwide to 5G networks will reach 550 million, according to the forecast Ericsson, and Russian players are actively preparing to use the opportunities that this technology can provide.
National research Institute of technology (NIITS), created by the Russian company “Aykominvest” Vitaly Yusufov for research of modern information and communication technologies, in particular 5G, M2M (communication between machines) and Internet of things (IoT), interviewed more than 30 experts from international standards bodies, universities, Telecom operators, equipment manufacturers and consulting companies in five countries and analyzed them with the help of special software solutions.

According to the forecast NIITS provided by RBC, the consumer may be interested in holographic calls, remote presence and so-called tactile Internet.

For the implementation of services in real time would require a high guaranteed bandwidth of mobile communication networks, which current technology can not provide. In particular, the data transmission rate should increase to 100 Mbps and the total throughput of the network up to 10 Gbit/s.
The remote presence services involve not only voice and video, which is still in use today, and the use of robots that are physically present where he could not get the consumer and will be managed by them in real time. For example, sick students will be able to send for himself to class robot equipped with a camera and microphone that will allow you to see and hear what is happening in the classroom, as well as, for example, to enter “the Board” or to do laboratory assignments, controlling the actions of the robot from home.
However, NIITS stipulates that in the next 10-15 years, these two services will not receive mass distribution. As explained RBC General Director of NIITS Alexander Minov, the experts came to the conclusion that high-quality holographic three-dimensional image is virtually impossible to obtain outside in bright daylight or when the object moves. However, holograms may become popular in social media, advertising and entertainment applications, he said. Services remote presence, according to minowa, focused more on people with disabilities and the provision of remote medical care. To hold back their development is the high cost of robotic platforms and the fact that the effect of the presence or otherwise can now be achieved by ordinary video conferencing.
The tactile Internet — that is, the services, influencing a sensation by mechanical impact on the skin — has a greater chance at wide distribution. It will allow you to control various objects without visual and sound control. For example, using the tactile Internet, the doctor can conduct remote surgery: its movement in accuracy will repeat robotic system, the doctor will feel the force of mechanical impact. In addition to the health of the tactile Internet you can apply the automation and robotics industry, education and games. From mobile networks to implement the service will require low latency, high availability, reliability and security of communication.

According to minowa, the prospect of IoT and M2M services for operators and service providers are primarily concerned with their mass, the average revenue from each device will be small. The main profit from distribution services of virtual and augmented reality will be to device manufacturers and applications; income of the operators will be provided by the growth in data traffic, says minow. In the case of the tactile Internet operators can also earn extra income by providing a guaranteed communication quality required for such services. According to the forecast Ericsson, by 2022 just to network in the 29 billion of various devices, of which 18 billion will apply to IoT.
New generation of communication

Half of them will be connected to LTE networks, or 4G, and 550 million subscribers — generation networks 5G, the report says Ericsson. The “Aykominvest” owns 74.99% of the company Osnova Telecom, which has built the 4G network in 19 Russian cities, but were unable to get permission to run.
