Moscow promised to respond to the emergence of the Black sea of NATO ships

Moscow will be forced to prepare a response to the emergence of the black sea fleet under the auspices of NATO, according to the foreign Ministry. Foreign Ministry urges focus on working together in the Black sea, and not on the contradictions between Russia and the Alliance

Russia will prepare a response if a permanent military group with the participation of non-regional countries, NATO will appear in the Black sea. This was stated by Director of the European cooperation Department of Russian foreign Ministry Andrey Kelin in an interview to Agency “RIA Novosti”.

According to Andrey Kelin, Moscow “will have to answer, if such a permanent connection with the participation of non-regional countries, NATO will appear in the Black sea”.

The Russian diplomat also noted that the presence in the Black sea, NATO in the Alliance earlier, the “never was”. According to him, NATO countries, especially Turkey and Romania continued to participate in the joint activities of the fleets in the Black sea and cooperated with Russia in the framework of the naval group for operational cooperation “Blackseafor” and operation “black sea harmony” (Turkish Navy is carried out from March 2004).

According to kälin, now in Ankara to support the restoration work in the black sea theme and that effort makes sense to focus, not on confrontational measures.

That NATO will increase its military presence in the Black sea region, said in mid-June, the NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg. According to the Secretary General, the Alliance increased the number of exercises, intensified patrolling the air space and now plans to create in Romania the conditions and infrastructure for the deployment of the multinational brigade of the Alliance. The initiative to create a NATO flotilla in the Black sea was advanced by Romania in July 2016. Bucharest proposed the creation of a regular Black sea fleet, consisting of ships of Germany, Italy, Turkey and the United States.

In may 2016 the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that the Black sea has become a “Russian lake,” and urged the NATO Secretary General, Jens Stoltenberg, to strengthen the presence of NATO forces in the Black sea.

In addition, the creation of the black sea fleet, NATO was made by the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko. At a joint press conference with Romanian President Klaus Iohannis, he said that Kiev is ready to join this effort.

Russia has repeatedly spoken out against the creation of the NATO fleet in the Black sea and warned about the danger of “deficit of trust” between Russia and the countries of the Alliance, stating that it considers the increased military presence of NATO on its borders as a threat to Russia’s national interests. Moscow proceeds from the fact that “Black sea is constant”, as the number of countries that surround it.
