Russian chess player Sergey Karjakin won the world blitz championship

Russian Sergey Karjakin was the best in the chess world blitz championship, reports R-Sport. The competition was held in Qatar.

The main rival GM was a Norwegian chess player Magnus Carlsen. Following the tournament, both earned the same number of points – 16.5 points. However, additional indicators Karjakin was better, so the title match eventually went to him.

In the top five of the competition two more Russians. Third place went to Daniil Dubov, the fifth – Alexander Grischuk.

Yesterday it was reported that Karjakin beat Carlsen in the fifth round of the blitz championship and became the sole leader.

Earlier, Carlsen and Karjakin competed for the chess crown of the world. The victory eventually went to Norwegian.
