Ministry of internal Affairs of Austria has explained the reason for the detention in Vienna of a group of natives of Chechnya. It was explained that these people are suspected of involvement in criminal shootouts

The Minister of internal Affairs of Austria Wolfgang Sobotka explained the detention of 22 people from Chechnya in Vienna. According to him, the police received information that these people were involved in shootouts between the two warring factions.

Sobotka indicated that 16 of the detainees received in Austria official refugee status, four were pending review of their request, and another two were denied the right to stay in the country.

According to the Minister, the detainees “have abused Austrian hospitality and posed a danger to civilians.” “We must do everything to ensure that criminals did not receive the right to asylum in our country”, – quotes Sobotka Agency APA.

According to the Austrian media, immigrants from Chechnya were detained on the Danube island in Vienna on Friday evening. When checking some of them tried to explain that just taking a walk, while others tried to assure the police that are involved in the wedding. While beside them in the snow found a gun, belonging to a suspect car was found the machine gun, and ammunition.

The Russian Embassy said that no complaints from the Austrian authorities or detainees have been reported. There stated that “closely monitoring the situation”.
