– The essence of the Russian initiatives for the deployment of peacekeepers in the Donbass, it is important not to blur, it will depend on how constructive the position will be Ukraine and the United States, said the press Secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov.
“President Vladimir Putin and Moscow consistently pursuing a line on the world contribute to finding a solution. In this regard, Russia is one of the countries-guarantors of the Minsk agreements, which, as you know, are not implemented because of the unwillingness, and the unwillingness of Kiev to follow the unambiguous items that are signed by all the countries concerned documents”, – said Peskov told reporters.
Referring to the Russian proposals for the deployment of peacekeepers in the Donbas, Peskov said: “It was the initiative of President Putin, which was formulated in the draft resolution (UN security Council). It is important not to blur the essence of the Russian proposal. There we are talking about the UN mission, which would ensure the safety of employees of the OSCE mission, which works in the Donbas.”
According to him, “now everything will depend on how constructive the position is Kiev and the United States.”
September 5, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the presence of UN peacekeepers in the Donbas would benefit the resolution of the conflict in the South-East of Ukraine, and instructed the foreign Ministry to submit an appropriate draft resolution to the UNSC.
According to the Russian leader, it could be “only about the function of ensuring the safety of OSCE staff”. These forces, he said, must be on the boundary line and no other areas.
