The court of Semey city East Kazakhstan region sentenced a local resident to three and a half years of imprisonment for participation in the fighting in the East of Ukraine, said on Wednesday “Interfax” the press service of the court.
Man found guilty under two articles of the Criminal code of Kazakhstan – 172 (participation in foreign armed conflicts) and 287 (illegal acquisition, transfer, sale, storage, transportation or carrying of firearms, ammunition, explosives), said the press service.
“In the fighting, the defendant participated with the aim of assisting the self-proclaimed militia Donetsk national Republic in the struggle for the protection of constitutional rights and freedoms from the civilian population carried out by the official authorities of Ukraine anti-terrorist operation. He joined the militia and received military training, with weapons in their hands participated in the hostilities on the side of the DNI” – said the Agency interlocutor.
According to the materials of the case, the man entered the territory of the breakaway Republic, bypassing the checkpoints of the state border between Russia and Ukraine. Returning home in December of 2016, he in February this year, illegally purchased a pistol and sold it in Pavlodar, said in court.
