– Vice-President of the National Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, Kenneth Fok, who was elected as the head of the Asian Confederation of eSports at the General Assembly of the organization in Ashgabat has declared its intention to seek the inclusion of e-sports disciplines in the Olympic programme.
“Our vision is to promote eSports and, ultimately, his inclusion in the Olympic program, but many sports claim this place” – are the words Fock, voiced at the General Assembly of the Confederation, on the information portal of Turkmenistan.
However, he noted that eSports has enough characteristics that put it on par with traditional sports.
“You talk about toughness, teamwork, four, five, six, on the rate of reaction. Yeah, you’re not sweating, you’re not in an open space, but there are many other attributes that make e-sports a sport,” said Fok.
E-sports included in the program held in Ashkhabad V Asian indoor games and martial arts as a demonstration sport. In the framework of the competition on September 25-27 will host tournaments for Dota 2, Hearthstone, StarCraft 2 and The King of Fighters XIV. The winners in this sport, the medals will be awarded, but in the standings obschemedalnom these awards will not be counted.
Currently, negotiations are underway for the inclusion of eSports in the programme of the XVIII summer Asian games to be held in 2018 in Jakarta (Indonesia).
Russian eSports was recognized as an official sport in the summer of 2016.
