– Special envoy of the UN Secretary General on Syria Staffan de Mistura reiterated before the members of the UN Security Council of his intention to hold a new round of Syrian peace talks in Geneva and outlined the approximate time in a month.
“Today, I want to confirm its intention to conduct the eighth round of inter-Syrian talks in Geneva. We discussed yesterday the matter with the Secretary-General. I want to make it through the month. The exact timing will be established, but not later than the end of October – beginning of November,” he said, speaking at a meeting of the UN security Council on the situation in the middle East.
The special representative urged “both sides to carefully examine the situation of the eye that contains realism and a sense of responsibility for the situation, and to prepare for the Geneva talks and to join them without any preconditions.”
