“On the eve of this view by deputies of all factions, it was decided on the direction of re-collective request to the Prosecutor General of Russia on the necessity to implement the given law powers to ban the movie “Matilda” which incite hatred on religious grounds and defile the Orthodox shrines and religious feelings of the people,” said Poklonski reporters on Friday.

“I would like to emphasize that the film does not contain any materials that violate Russian legislation, including legislation aimed at the protection of morals and the feelings of believers. We believe that the wide theatrical release of the film will cause additional interest to the pages of history of our country”, – said the Deputy.
The Committee also reminded about the inadmissibility of censorship and violation of constitutional rights of citizens to freedom of creativity and participation in cultural life.
The film “Matilda” directed by Alexey Uchitel in Russia caused a wide resonance even before the release. He talks about the relationship between the future Emperor Nicholas II and the ballerina Matilda Kshesinskaya.
