Prime Minister of Turkey Binali Yildirim announced the termination of flights to Iraqi Kurdistan on Friday, reports Anadolu Agency.
“Today from 18:00 all flights from Turkey to Erbil and Sulaymaniyah discontinued indefinitely. Turkish public and private carriers to stop flying (to the North of Iraq – Interfax)”, – he told reporters.
The Prime Minister noted that if in Iraqi Kurdistan at present are the citizens of Turkey, they sent a special Board.
Earlier it was reported that on Friday evening, enters into force a ban of the Main Directorate of civil aviation of Iraq, commanding him to cease operations of all foreign airlines in the airports of Erbil and Sulaymaniyah, from 18:00 local time on Friday.
Monday in Iraqi Kurdistan held a referendum on self-determination. More than 90% of the region’s inhabitants voted for its independence.
