– WikiLeаks founder Julian Assange has promised to pay 20 thousand euros for information which will help to establish the identity of the killers, the Maltese journalist Daphne Caruana Galicia.

“I am outraged by the news that a Maltese journalist, author of the investigations and blogger Daphne Caruana Galicia was killed tonight, near his own house by a bomb planted in her car. I will give a reward of 20 thousand euros for information that would unmask her killers,” wrote Assange on his Twitter.

About the murder of 56-year-old journalist became known on Monday. According to The Guardian, one of her last high-profile investigations concerned the Prime Minister of Malta Joseph Muscat and his two closest aides. Daphne Caruana Galicia wrote about their relationship with a Panamanian offshore companies, the sale of Maltese passports and getting money from the government of Azerbaijan.

According to local media, 15 days ago Caruana Galicia reported to the police that she received death threats. No one has yet claimed responsibility for the murder of the journalist.

Panama dossier

The scandal around the “Panama records” has inflamed after in the beginning of April 2016, the German Sueddeutsche Zeitung published documents of Panamanian law firm Mossack Fonseca, which indicates wide use in the world of offshore schemes for tax evasion. The scandal received maximum publicity – the papers were also published by many media outlets, collaborating with an International consortium of journalistic investigations (ICIJ).

The documents contained information about the involvement of a number of prominent world figures to tax evasion, money laundering and other fraud. In particular, this list includes relatives or close people of the President of China, President of Ukraine, President of Azerbaijan, the kings of Morocco and Saudi Arabia, the Prime Minister of great Britain. On the basis of this publication, the Prosecutor General’s office of Panama is investigating.

“Panama records” contains 11.5 million documents, indicating the presence of offshore companies 140 politicians and civil servants from more than 50 countries, including 12 current and former world leaders who used more than 214 thousand offshore companies.
