– Russia sees the European Commission by the party for negotiations on the implementation of the project “Nord stream 2”, as it is a purely commercial project, said Russia’s envoy to the EU Vladimir Chizhov.
“We do not see (the EC as a party to the negotiations – if), but we are ready to dialogue with everyone,” Chizhov said on Thursday “Interfax” on the sidelines of the Eurasian economic forum in Verona.
“We are ready to talk with anyone, but to negotiate. “Nord stream 2″ is a commercial project, there is a consortium which it leads, is not a government initiative,” he added.
Earlier this year the European Commission asked the EU Council for a mandate to negotiate on behalf of the European Union. Moreover, the representatives of the European Commission claimed that around the “Nord stream 2”, there is a “legal vacuum” to be filled in the course of negotiations.
Previously, the newspaper “Izvestia” with reference to the interlocutors in the three parliamentary parties in Denmark reported that the country’s Parliament on 30 November to pass a law that will give the government the right to prohibit projects in the Danish territorial waters, citing the threat to national security. De facto new bill is directed against the main projects of Russia in Europe – of the pipeline “Nord stream-2”, which should take place including through the territorial waters of Denmark.
