President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said that the main organizers of the protests at the Parliament building in Kiev was aimed at destabilizing the situation in the country, and put forward their demands served as a cover.
“The main authors showed that formal demands were just a smokescreen. A real plan of their actions is to destabilize the situation in Ukraine,” Poroshenko said Friday during a visit to a mobile border detachment of the state border service of Ukraine in Kiev.
The initiator of the action in Parliament was the ex-President of Georgia Mikhail Saakashvili.
The President of Ukraine said that the protesters put forward a formal requirements that coincide with the initiatives of the President and part of the anti-corruption proceedings, and in terms of parliamentary immunity.
He noted that after the Verkhovna Rada sent to the constitutional court a bill on the abolition of parliamentary immunity, the political forces stated that they complete their part.
Poroshenko said that thanks to the effective actions of law enforcement were thwarted attempts to buy a gun, was found hiding places, weapons caches and explosives. According to the President, the organizers needed to change, “they needed blood.”
The President stressed that law enforcement agencies were doing everything to ensure the peaceful nature of the action, not succumb to provocations and prevent bloodshed.
He noted that Ukraine has survived more than one attempt to destabilize the situation inside. “Say: have coped and will cope in this time” – summed Poroshenko.
October 17 at the walls of Parliament were declared perpetual campaign of opposition. The protesters demanded the adoption of laws on abolition of parliamentary immunity, and the reform of electoral legislation. Protesters camped outside Parliament. During the day and in the night of 18 October there were clashes between demonstrators and police, several people were injured. October 18, President Petro Poroshenko did not accept the delegation of members of Parliament to discuss issues that concern the participants of the termless action.
19 Oct Rada failed to adopt none of the three introduced bills to abolish parliamentary immunity. The President of Ukraine expressed hope that a law will be adopted in early 2018.
