Italian runner AOB Faniel became the winner on 22 October Venice marathon due to the fact that six of the favorites ran in the other direction.
After 25 km the race was formed by a group of leaders who fought for the prizes. However, they are confused by the motorcycle escort, which turned in the wrong direction. Athletes followed him and immediately realized his mistake.
When they realized they ran the wrong route and turned back, the time was lost.
25-year-old Taniel fought with Muhammad Musa from Eritrea. The victory went to the representative of Italy, who overcame the distance in 2 hours 12 minutes and 16 seconds, ahead of nearest rival by two minutes.
