How much do you know young, greedily to the practice of architects with unconventional ideas? Judging by the polls, in the best case — two-three. Until recently it was difficult to get through a masters with experience and a name. In our eyes, this mechanism is simplified due to the launch of the Russian youth Biennale of architecture, which is unique in the world does not yet exist.

The first show happened in Kazan, Innopolis. Growing as an innovative cluster twenty-first century, he is the epitome of a comfortable urban environment, designed primarily for young professionals. Their relevance is obvious in Tatarstan, which is confirmed by more than 200 developed by them for several years, programs of development of public spaces.
Young architects trust in the Republic and capital assets. The building of the Technopark, the place where the Biennale is an example. The authors of its conceptual design Bureau “Innopolis Architecture” — also the participants of the Biennale. Stylistically they divided the space into three zones: stone, wood and grass that visually resonates with the local landscape.
Exhibition architecture Biennale — the work of Agnes Sterligova, on account of which the most famous exhibitions of recent years, in particular, in the Tretyakov gallery and the Pushkin. Here Sterligov decided to break away, realizing his dream on the use of wavy metal plates. Of these are usually harvested whip up a cheap fence that the girl does not mind: “For me it was important that the material was affordable, stylish, and as the background does not distract attention. After all, the protagonists here are young architects”.
They are all under the age of 35 years and vocational education below the bachelor’s degree. Under such lenient requirements for participation filed 377 people and teams from 11 countries. To be a citizen of the Russian Federation was not required, but knowledge of the Russian language and the desire to bind prefdialog with Russia — a condition of logical.
The qualifying round consisted of a portfolio competition, which included both completed and conceptual projects. They were assessed on originality and artistic expression of ideas. It is possible to form a long-list of 30 teams invited to the finals.
Who are the judges? The Biennale curator Sergei Tchoban due to its international prestige has managed to attract in a jury of experts on a global scale. Among them has been yellow frost (Cebra, Denmark), Christos Passas (Zaha Hadid Architects, UK), Kees Kaan (Kaan Architecten, the Netherlands). From Russia were made by Yuliy Borisov, Julia burdova and Alexander Tsimailo.

They asked the subject of the competition: to develop the project of a city block, comfortable and visually appealing, which wanted to live by himself contestant. Here we learn what kind of environment similar to modern active man, including the number of storeys, the form of houses and the organization of space between them.
Moscow architectural group CITIZENSTUDIO is a mixture of the sleeping area to the center. Their hybrid prudently incorporates the advantages of each type: green environment panel marginal areas and the high degree of social and cultural life of Central. It is not surprising that the project was awarded the gold prize for the creation of mixed-use quarter with a distinct identity, careful attention to the scale and needs of the person.

The Ekaterinburg Bureau B-group biosphere in the two towers manages to hold the city in the city. Each floor here, in addition to multi-family housing is complemented by a Park, shop, Museum… — depending on the needs of the residents. The concept of the vertical city resorted Moscow architects Natalia Sablina Timur Cherkasov. Among the projects either in form or content is not repetitive. And the Biennale is a rare example of a concise, phenomenally precise statements. In such cases, say, nor subtract or add. And that’s what I think the organizers and experts.
Minister of construction Mikhail Men: “there’s a lot of replacement of governors. Come young, experienced, creative guys, who have repeatedly asked me to recommend candidates for the position of chief architects of the regions. This speaks to the human hunger for professionals who are drawn to large-scale solutions. Therefore, we will create a personnel reserve of talented young guys who are ready to go to work in a particular region.”
The founder of Bureau SPEECH Sergey Choban: “Before the opening of the Biennale I had some concerns about what we will see. I fully admit that this may be areas designed, that is, from the height of bird flight, when the abstract beauty of the composition solution is more important than the comfort of daily living. Le Corbusier, for example, said that he designed the plan of the city, flying over it by plane. It was a joke, but architects often approach to urban planning that we are absolutely not putting yourself in the place of the pedestrian, which is to perceive the space. This space is the result is too large, insufflated, devoid of detail, interesting to the human eye, is unable to provide social control. I was pleased that the projects presented in such spaces are almost there. And at the same time, this architecture is not converted into external embellishment with a standard filling. The finalists came up with different forms of life, fed them a new look and created built to a human scale the space between them. The perception of architecture, the texture of the buildings and their smallest details come from the side of a walking person. It was a little more conservative than what we expect from young people. But this conservatism is healthy.”

Co-Director of the Biennale, assistant to the President of Tatarstan Natalia Fishman: “We intend to work with the winners and finalists in our country and encourage you to invite them to work on real projects in their home regions. The first Biennale showed great potential for replenishment of a strong professional environment for young talent with a new vision of comfortable cities, so we hope to carry it on a regular basis.”
Mikkel frost: “I saw a strong conceptual idea. Those who are able to build around himself the entire project. It is more important than perfect proportions and all that. Because of the beautiful houses and the correct proportions — this is the minimum that can be expected from a professional trained in architecture. For me personally, architects, especially the young, it is more important to feel the desire to do more than demanded by the specification, is to grow on the basis of the specified parameters some its philosophy, to question things that are usually taken for granted. I am glad that in Russia there are architects”.
