On the Alley of the sports glory in Luzhniki, where there are monuments of great players Nikolay Starostin, Lev Yashin, Eduard Streltsov, there is a monument and one of the brightest world of hockey – Valeri Kharlamov.
The opening of a monument were present not only officials, but also relatives, friends of Valery Borisovich. A few words about his father said the daughter of Begonia made, and grandson, Valery, it seems, the future hockey player. Remember a good word Kharlamov, Viacheslav Fetisov, Boris Mikhailov, Vladislav Tretiak. All of them were lucky enough to go on the ice along with a Harley. For them, Valery will remain forever young and playful, a wonderful person and athlete, probably also like most hockey fans.
The monument, Alexander Rukavishnikov, is worthy of attention that Valery is shown in the movement – jump over the Board, going on the ice. The sculptor was friends with the hockey player and, apparently, tried to convey that Kharlamov will live forever in our hearts and is ready to go on the ice at any time. He stands close, symbolically, from the construction of the rink “Crystal”, so the choice of location is not accidental. Vyacheslav Fetisov even expressed the hope that a monument to Kharlamov only the first in the list, and I would like to see monuments to many other outstanding players.
Vladislav Tretiak recalled the patriotism Valeria, because when he proposed to become a professional and play in the NHL, he refused and remained in the USSR. Apparently, Vladislav Aleksandrovich wanted to remind you that our young athletes should not strive to go abroad. Also Tretiak, answering the question “MK” why put a monument to Kharlamov and what the event is timed, said: “Decent players very much, so much that place may not be enough, and Kharlamov because the monument, and on the 14th of January next year he would have been the anniversary – 70 years, not the fact that the January event would be able to visit all those who are present here today”
