Shenyang. 26 Oct. INTERFAX – the Joint venture BMW Brilliance Automotive has launched in Shenyang (the administrative centre of Liaoning province), the centre for the development, production and testing of high voltage batteries.
They will be shipped to a nearby factory, which is under the management of the JV. The company will produce hybrid cars BMW H5 for the Chinese market.
Thus, BMW has taken an important step in the implementation of the strategy for the development of car of new energy sources and has launched a localized production of such vehicles in China, said the Agency “Xinhua”.
Shenyang center was the first center to develop, manufacture and test of power batteries with the integrated system created by BMW outside Germany. The Chinese center was established on the basis of factory on manufacture of engines built in January 2016 in Shenyang.
Founded in 2003, BMW Brilliance Automotive is a joint venture of the German concern BMW and Chinese automaker Brilliance China Automotive Holdings Ltd.
