The country will not refuse from the Russian language and using the Cyrillic alphabet

Astana. 27 Oct. INTERFAX-KAZAKHSTAN – President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev signed a decree on the transition alphabet of the Kazakh language from Cyrillic to the Latin alphabet, reported on Friday a press-service of the head of state. “To approve the alphabet of the Kazakh language based on Latin graphics,” – said in the text of the decree.
Document prescribed in the government of the Republic to form a National Commission for the translation of the alphabet of the Kazakh language on Latin graphics; to ensure a gradual transfer of the alphabet of the Kazakh language to Latin script by 2025; to take other measures for the implementation of this decree, including institutional and legislative nature. Control over execution of the decree is imposed on the presidential Administration.
The decree shall be enforced from the date of its publication.
As reported, in April this year, the Nazarbayev instructed the government to draw up the timetable for the transition of the Kazakh alphabet to the Latin alphabet. The head of state assured that the transition of the Kazakh alphabet to the Latin alphabet, the country will not refuse from the Russian language and using the Cyrillic alphabet.
“Latin will deal with the Kazakh language. All the editions published in the Russian language, Russian-speaking citizens of Kazakhstan Cyrillic remains,” said the President.
