The king of Thailand Maha Vajiralongkorn on Friday participated in the ceremony of collecting the ashes of his father Phumiphon Adulyadej, who remained perfect after the day before the cremation, reported AP.
After collecting the dust son Adulyadej watered it with a specially prepared liquid, and then put it together with the bones of the former king six funeral urns. They will be delivered to the Temple of the emerald Buddha to commit further Buddhist rituals.
The ceremony of cremation was held on Thursday in Bangkok. In accordance with local traditions embalmed body Adulyadej was taken on a special chariot to the Royal crematorium, accompanied by a procession of hundreds of soldiers.
The five-day burial ceremony of the former king began on Wednesday – after more than a year after the death Adulyadej.
The burial ceremony of high-ranking representatives of the Royal family of Thailand constitute a large-scale event, the last such ceremony took place in the country for more than 70 years ago.
A former king of Thailand Adulyadej has died on 13th October 2016 at the age of 88 years. He became king of Thailand in 1946 and was on the throne longer than any other monarch in recent world history.
On 1 December last year, Maha Vajiralongkorn, the son of Pumipon Adulyadej, came to the throne of Thailand as Rama X – the tenth king of the Chakri dynasty, founded in 1782.
