Washington. 27 Oct. INTERFAX – U.S. senators, members of the Committee on intelligence of the house of representatives, U.S. Senate, said that Twitter was not told the Senate about shopping RT advertising on the social network during the election campaign in the United States in 2016, according to the American publication The Hill.
Speaker of the Committee mark Warner told reporters that representatives of Twitter have kept this in a private debate in Committee last month, the newspaper notes.
“We do not comment on our private negotiations with any of the advertisers, even with the former,” – said in Twitter the request for publication.
On the eve of the chief editor of RT Margarita Simonyan published in a social network message, in which he proposed to Congress to draw attention to the fact that Twitter has offered to the Russian TV channel to increase the funding and scope of the advertising campaign during the US elections.
Later Twitter announced that they would suspend cooperation with RT and Sputnik.
