– “Rosneft” in its regional development strategy of Croatia takes place energy hub, said the head of the company Igor Sechin in an interview with Croatian newspaper Jutarnji list.
Advantageous strategic location of our assets INA, the presence of oil terminals, through which the company can sell oil directly, without intermediaries, provide the basis for creating a trading hub, oriented to the markets of the Mediterranean and Central Europe, he explained.
“We are certainly interested in effective investments in the region and consider the possibility of their participation in the capital of the biggest oil companies of Croatia”, – said Sechin.
He added that the key assets of INA are two major refineries (refinery) in Rijeka and Sisak. “Croatia has stated that it is willing to invest in their modernization, but the Hungarian company Mol, which is the largest shareholder in INA, announced plans for the closure of the plant in Sisak, because the production there, supposedly, unprofitable, and the staff is overblown. The leaders of INA stake to the factory in Rijeka, which is by the sea and can easily be embedded in the trading chain. However, in our view, there is no reason to close the plant, which the upgrade may take an important place on the European recycling market. Moreover, the refinery employs highly qualified, experienced professionals, and we can not allow that they were on the street,” – said the head of the Russian company.
“If “Rosneft” will be included in the capital of the Croatian INA, the plants will be upgraded and will be able to produce products that meet European standards”, – he said.
“We are considering to strengthen its presence in this market, in the event that the partners will offer us mechanisms to increase economic efficiency of projects. Sure, the potential for development and we will be able to build a strategic partnership with the biggest Croatian oil company,” – said Sechin Croatian edition.
