– Danish tennis player Caroline Wozniacki won the WTA Championships Women’s tennis Association (WTA).
In the finals, held in Singapore, she defeated the representative of the USA, Venus Williams, laid in two sets, – 6:4, 6:4. The length of the match was 1 hour 29 minutes.
Thus, Wozniacki for the first time in his career won the final tournament WTA.
This is the first victory for Wozniacki over Williams. Previous seven matches Danish American lost.
The opponents currently occupy adjacent positions in the ranking WTA: Williams is in fifth place, and Wozniacki is on the sixth.
Prize Fund the final of the WTA championship in 2017 amounted to $7 million.
The only Russian woman to have won the tournament in singles is Maria Sharapova, whose triumph came in 2004.
