Hackers, allegedly associated with Russia, tried to hack 4.7 thousand accounts on Gmail users, said on Thursday the Associated Press.
The Agency has conducted its own investigation, based on data collected by the company Secureworks, dealing with cybersecurity. The company, according to the Agency, found these data after a hacker group Fancy Bear, which the Western media has been linked to Russian intelligence, has inadvertently published online some information on its operations.
Secureworks data refer to the period from March 2015 to may 2016. Most of the targets of the hackers were in the United States, Ukraine, Russia, Georgia and Syria. In Ukraine, according to the AP, Fancy Bear tried to hack 545 accounts, in particular, of the President of Petro Poroshenko, his son and a number of former and current Ministers, including interior Minister Arsen Avakov.
