– The relationship between artistic intellectuals, theater and the state “very imperfect,” said Director Nikita Mikhalkov, as an example, he cites the case of the “Seventh Studio”.
“I am convinced that pieces of silver – talented man. (…) The laws, the relationship between artistic intellectuals, and the state theater very imperfect. And in order to stage a play, sometimes you have to go to all sorts of violations. One go at it carefully, the other carelessly. I absolutely agree that the state should not intervene in culture, art and so on. But, nevertheless, still there is such concept – a provocative performance, provocative art,” he said in the broadcast transmission “Right to know” on channel “TV Center”.

According to the Director, if the Creator provides a provocative project of his own money, he is in charge. “Moreover, if this provocation talented and need, you the audience will give their money. But if you start the provocation of public money – to complain then it is not necessary”, – said Mikhalkov.
Currently, in the case of the “Seventh Studio” as defendants are six people, including Kirill Serebrennikov, a former Director of the “Gogol-centre”, the former General producer “Seventh Studio” Alex Malopolski, former Director General of the organization Yuri Itin former chief accountant Nina Maslyaeva. They all accused in the theft of at least 68 million rubles allocated from the budget for the cultural project “Platform” (part 4 of article 159 of the criminal code).
Another defendant Ekaterina Voronova is a former Executive producer of the play “a Midsummer night’s Dream”, which, as stated by the investigation were to be launched in the framework of the “Platform”, but delivered in the end was not arrested in absentia and declared in the international search.
