– The United States is dissatisfied with the level of transparency on the Russian-Belarusian exercises “West-2017”, said Tuesday the U.S. permanent representative to NATO Kay Bailey Hutchison.
“We were very disappointed with the level of transparency on the part of Russia in carrying out (exercise) “West-2017″, the Vienna agreement was not met,” she said in the teleconference.
“We are very concerned about the issue of transparency and would like to in the future Russia to comply with the standards established by the Vienna agreement”, – said the U.S. Ambassador to NATO.
Joint Russian-Belarusian maneuvers “West-2017” took place September 14-20. NATO has previously expressed concerns about the exercises.
In the exercise involved almost 13 thousand military personnel (from Belarus – about 7,2 thousand persons, from the armed forces of the Russian Federation – about 5.5 thousand people, of which on the territory of Belarus – up to 3 thousand people). In the exercise involved about 70 aircraft and helicopters, and 680 pieces of equipment, including about 250 tanks, 200 guns, rocket systems of volley fire and mortars, as well as 10 ships.
