What’s going on with the restoration with the new Deputy Minister of culture

What is happening today with the restoration can be found in Gostiny Dvor, where from 8 to 10 November is held the IV international exhibition on preservation, restoration and promotion of cultural heritage “Denkmal — Moscow 2017”.

At the collective stand of the Ministry of culture 34 participants exhibit the best of restorers of Russia for the last two years. The geography of participants is wide: from two capitals, Vladimir, Yaroslavl, Saratov, Great Novgorod to Karelia, Rostov region and Republic of Mordovia.

– We are now in the process of reform in the sphere of restoration, or rather, its revival, – said Deputy Minister of culture Oleg Ryzhkov. – Therefore, the presence of a discussion platform where all could meet and share experiences, has a special importance. Convinced that the restoration and adaptation of monuments to modern use and the creation of historic cities museums is the key to economic development of the regions. This helps create jobs, revival of traditions and crafts, preservation of historical memory and national consciousness of peoples of our country.

In the area of master classes at the collective stand are classes where visitors are introduced to the main stages of the research and restoration of works of art, learn peculiarities of work with objects of decorative art. Here also give presentations on new analytic methods in the study of historical materials, lectures on the theory and practice of modern restoration…

Experts discuss the best examples of restoration and use of monuments of history and culture. Among them — the process and results of restoration of unique icons: for example, one of the most successful restoration projects implemented by the Center. Grabar was the restoration of the icons of the XII century “our lady of Bogolyubovo” State Vladimir-Suzdal Museum-reserve. Lasted intermittently for nearly a century, the restoration was completed in early 2016.

Visitors learn about the restoration of rare items, such as books and gold embroidery (Moscow Kremlin). The staff of the Museum.
