– The state Duma meeting on Wednesday adopted in first reading a bill on gradual assimilation by 2019 the minimum wage (SMIC) to the subsistence level.
The bill proposes to set the minimum wage from 1 January 2018 in the amount of 9489 rubles per month, which will be 85% of the subsistence minimum of able-bodied population for II quarter of 2017.
“Starting from 2019, the minimum wage is proposed to be set at the minimum subsistence level of the employable population in the whole of the Russian Federation for the II quarter of the previous year. The subsistence minimum of able-bodied population for the II quarter is set in the order defined by the government of the Russian Federation, after which the minimum wage established by Federal law”, – stated in the accompanying documents to the bill.
