Russian stadiums “Luzhniki” and “Saint-Petersburg” was among the contenders for the title of best football stadium open in 2017.
Voting is held on the website stadiumdb.com where the visitor is invited to choose from a list of five best, in his opinion, arenas and assess their scores from 1 to 5.
In the list of candidates includes 27 stadiums, the voting will last until March 4. The basic requirements for the arena are that they must be built from scratch or significantly reconstructed, and their capacity shall be not less than 10 thousand people.
The reconstruction of the stadium “Luzhniki” in Moscow began in 2014. During the work, the arena’s capacity was increased from 78 to 81 thousand spectators. The first match after reconstruction for the 2018 world Cup Luzhniki adopted November 11, 2017, on this day there was held a friendly match between the national teams of Russia and Argentina.
The stadium “Saint-Petersburg” (capacity – 56 196 thousand people) will also host matches of the 2018 world Cup, last year at this arena hosted several matches of the confederations Cup 2017. He began to build in St. Petersburg in 2007 on the site of Kirov stadium. The first match took place here on 22 April 2017, when “Zenith” in 24-m round of the championship of Russia hosted guests from Yekaterinburg “Ural”.
