As it became known “MK”, the University was able to obtain in the laboratory a new synthetic derivative taskplugin — substances from marine sponges, with an active anti-tumor properties. This substance can inhibit a special enzyme (cyclin-dependent kinase 4), which provides rapid and uncontrolled division of cancer cells. According to experts, although taskplugin has a number of unique properties, it is not currently used to fight cancer because of its high toxicity. The aim of the study of the far Eastern specialists “improvement” of its structure to increase activity and decrease harm to human body. The tests have given promising results: after testing the capabilities of the new tools on the cells of cervical cancer and monocytic leukemia, scientists have found that a new compound for its activity in 2-3 times exceeds the known science at the moment taskplugin — in addition, it is less toxic. The results of the research suggest that with the opening will be able to significantly improve the already widely used drugs.
