People who tend not to look older than their years, it is not necessary to smile constantly, said scientists from the University of Ben-Gurion in Israel. It is not about what smiles can lead to the appearance of wrinkles. The researchers noticed that the man looked older at the moment, when that smile appears on his face.
Experts conducted two experiments, the first of which volunteers were shown smiling and neutral faces, and the second to the smiling, neutral, and surprised. In both cases, participants viewed the same face more than the old, if the photo of the man smiling and young, if it viragini face was something else.
After both experiments, participants were asked whether they agree with the statement that smiling faces look older, and in both cases the people just their actions confirming this idea, stated that they do not consider it a right. Scientists tend to explain this established stereotype that livaudais face, on the contrary, must look more young. Many people take this statement for granted and do not think that it may be wrong, but subconsciously continue to perceive smiling faces as more old.
Trying to explain the phenomenon, forcing to perceive neutral faces as young, scientists suggest that a smiling person appear wrinkles around the eyes that unconsciously perceived as a sign of “old age”.
The study was published in the journal Psychonomic Bulletin & Review.
Recently a group of British researchers from Bradford University have developed artificial intelligence that can determine the sex of the person in the video, where he smiles. Through training, the algorithm will “notice” that in most cases of a smiling woman open her mouth wider and generally their facial expressions at the moment of a smile is harder.
