The name of the new owner of this masterpiece is not called.
Its cost was estimated at $150 million, the bidding began with $125 million, Is one of five paintings depicting naked women, the hand of the Italian masters who ever put up for auction. All in all, Modigliani wrote 22 paintings and 13 with lying – sitting with naked women. Most of them are in museums.

According to The Guardian, this work belonged to an Italian businessman and horse breeder John Manheru who bought it in 2003 at Christie’s auction for $26.9 million from tycoon Steve Wynn.
“Nude, lying on your left side” was written by Modigliani in 1917 – three years before the artist’s death. In the same year she was presented at the first and only personal exhibition of the Italian in the gallery Bertha veil in Paris. The paintings were deemed offensive and caused a scandal: the gallery, in the window, which presented one of his works, the crowds of onlookers. As a result, the police demanded the immediate closure of the exhibition.
