“Spivak from childhood taught English, loved to read and dreamed of becoming a translator, but for some reason has a degree in engineering mathematics and some time they even worked. However, fate was in his favor during the crisis of 1998, the year Mary lost her job, and the resulting free time was devoted to translation,” – said in a statement on the website of the publisher Phantom Press, which was its translation, and the novel “the year of the black moon.”
First, Spivak did the translations for themselves. “But soon her translation of the “Harry Potter” became popular on the Internet, brought her “widely known in narrow circles”, and the dream came true: to Masha turned from the publisher… Since then she has translated many books, and now with the new crisis, realized another of his dreams – he wrote a novel,” reads the message on the website Phantom Press.
