In may, the President of Rostelecom Mikhail Oseevsky has reported about the launch of Sailfish OS testing on the officials. “As for the system, our goal is to give business and government a new reliable solution to ensure information sovereignty of Russia”, — explained the Governor. The operator expects that in 2019 the Russian OS smartphones will practically be used in government.
Sailfish was originally developed by the Finnish Jolla, a majority stake in which was subsequently bought by the owner of ESN group Grigory Berezkin. Refining the OS for Russia was engaged in “Open mobile platform”, which was controlled by the sister Berezkina Olga Berezkina and former CEO of ESN Michael Verosub. As a result, 75% of “Open mobile platforms” bought “Rostelecom”.
