– The oldest people’s artist of USSR, Soviet, Armenian and Russian sculptor, painter and graphic artist, pedagogue Nikolay Nikoghosyan died in the hundredth year of his life, told in the press service of the Russian Academy of arts (RAA) on Friday.

“Russian culture has suffered a grievous loss. 10 August 2018 on the hundredth year, died one of the greatest masters of Russian sculpture, people’s artist of USSR, laureate of the State prize of the USSR, academician of the Russian Academy of arts Nikolai Nikogosyan Bagratovich”, – stated in the message of ARTS.

Nikoghosyan was born on 2 Dec 1918 in the Armenian village Shagrir (now Nalbandian), in 1930, moved to Yerevan. In 1937-1940 he studied at the art school at the Institute of painting, sculpture and architecture. Repin in Leningrad. In 1944-1947 he studied at the Moscow state art Institute named after V. I. Surikov, faculty of sculpture. Since 1942, member of the Union of artists of the USSR.
